Trade fairs as a barometer of change in the industry. The President of Targi Kielce speaks on Polsat

The situation in key sectors of the economy, including energy and industry, is currently undergoing dynamic change. The growing role of new technologies and systems integration, together with the need to make rapid investment decisions, means that industry trade fairs are once again gaining importance as a space for real dialogue and implementation. This role of trade fairs was discussed on Polsat by Dr Andrzej Mochoń, President of the Management Board of Targi Kielce and Chairman of the Council of the Polish Chamber of Exhibition Industry.

As he emphasised, trade fair events have for years served as a kind of barometer of the changes taking place in the industry. “Trade fairs invariably show what is happening in the world, what the new technologies are and in which direction entire sectors of the economy are heading”, he noted. In recent years the pace of these changes has accelerated significantly, which is clearly visible in the energy sector, among others.

According to President Mochoń, the focus of market interest is today shifting from energy generation itself to its intelligent use and storage. Integrated systems encompassing photovoltaics, heat pumps, energy storage and infrastructure for electromobility are becoming increasingly important. “The key trend is combining these elements into a single system that decides for itself when to store energy and when to use it, also on the basis of variable market prices”, he explained.

In this context, industry trade fairs such as ENEX at Targi Kielce are becoming a place not only for presenting technologies, but also for concrete business decisions. As Dr Mochoń noted, implementation often follows almost immediately, because trade fair events bring together in one place hundreds of specialised companies offering comparable solutions. “These are highly specialised trade fairs, aimed at specific target groups. Here people do not just talk – they also sign contracts and plan investments”, he stressed.

The conversation also touched on the condition and development of the exhibition industry in Poland. As Chairman of the Council of the Polish Chamber of Exhibition Industry, Dr Andrzej Mochoń pointed out that the Polish exhibition market is today among the most developed in Europe. “In many countries of the region there is a single exhibition centre, often located in the capital. In Poland we have an entire ecosystem – a dozen or so centres, specialised companies and technical facilities that together make up a strong industry”, he noted.

The dynamic development of the exhibition market is also reflected in infrastructure investment. Targi Kielce is currently building a new exhibition hall, which is intended to respond to the growing scale of events and the needs of exhibitors. “We are building the new hall not with a single event in mind, but our entire portfolio of trade fairs. The existing infrastructure has simply become too cramped”, the President stressed.

President Mochoń's remarks show that both the energy industry and the exhibition industry are today facing intensive change. In this context, trade fairs remain one of the most important tools connecting technology, business and decision-makers – a place where trends translate into concrete action.
