UFI European Fair Statistics 2013 provide certified figures for 22 countries

The latest edition of the Euro Fair Statistics Report, published by UFI the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, contains the certified statistics of 2 181 exhibitions organized in 2013 in the following 22 European countries: Austria (24), Belgium (58), Bulgaria (6), Croatia (5), Czech Republic (33), Finland (74), France (499), Germany (198), Hungary (20), Italy (177), Luxembourg (5), Moldavia (1), Poland (215), Portugal (25), Romania (10), Russia (99), Slovenia (1), Spain (214), Sweden (38), The Netherlands (42), Turkey (407), Ukraine (30). Compiled by UFI, the statistics were collected by thirteen official national bodies. They cover 2 181 exhibitions organized by 625 organizers, on 22,1 million square metres of registered rented space, with a total of 601 323 exhibitors and 60.5 million visitors. 35% of these exhibitions were addressed to trade visitors, 29% to public visitors and 36% to both target groups. Paul Woodward, UFI Managing Director, stated: “We are pleased to have been able to draw together this certified data from most of the big exhibition markets in Europe. We estimate that the trade fairs included in this report represents around half of the European exhibition market in terms of net rented space and this good quality, reliable data is aimed at helping marketers ensure that their budgets are spent effectively.” The breakdown of all the events by industry sector was provided by each auditing partner. Top industry sectors are: leisure, hobby, entertainment (2 390 961 sq.m -10%; 270 events – 12%), agriculture, forestry, fishery (2 285 204 sq. m – 10%; 148 events – 7%), construction, infrastructure (2 065 690 sq.m – 9%; 148 events – 5%), engineering, manufacturing, machines, instruments, hardware (1 822 447 sq.m – 8%; 163 events – 7%), textiles, apparel, fashion (1 741 545 sq. m – 7%; 164 -7%), ), food and beverage, hospitality (1 673 302 – 7%; 177 – 8%), furniture, interior design (1 642 470 – 7%; 121 – 5%), general exhibitions ((1 637 549 – 7%; 117 – 5%).
