Exhibition Ambassadors 2013 from Pomerania

Yesterday Polish Chamber of Exhibition Industry awarded the title of the Exhibition Ambassador for the fourth time. This year’s edition has a special character because for the first time in the history of the contest the title was presented to two persons, Mr. Mieczysław Struk, the Marshal of the Pomerania Voivodship and Mr. Paweł Adamowicz, the Mayor of Gdańsk. Thanks to the engagement of these two people, the Northern Poland now can boast the exhibition infrastructure competitive to other European centers with the highest standards. We are talking of course about the AmberExpo Exhibition and Congress Center. PCEI has presented the Honorary Title of the Exhibition Ambassador since 2011. The Exhibition Ambassador is a special recognition through which the Chamber acknowledges the role and engagement of persons from the world of politics, science and business who facilitate the growth of importance of exhibitions in the modern economy and understand and popularize the concept of direct meetings of entrepreneurs during exhibitions, and who also participate in them. – The title of the Exhibition Ambassador is a form of acknowledging people who do not directly participate in the development of the exhibition market but favor the growth of exhibitions. This year we have decided to honor two persons. Both Paweł Adamowicz and Mieczysław Struk support the concept of exhibitions and they are aware that good cooperation with exhibitions benefits the development of the city and the region – explains Mr. Adam Gabrysiak, the Vice-President of PCEI and the originator of the title. This year’s debate of the Chapter of the Title of the Exhibition Ambassador was held in Poznań City Office at the invitation of the Mayor Ryszard Grobelny, the last year’s laureate of the Exhibition Ambassador title.
This year’s Chapter was composed of the former laureates, i.e. Mr. Waldemar Pawlak – Member of the Parliament, former Minister of the Economy and the First Honorary Exhibition Ambassador; Mr. Wojciech Lubawski – the Mayor of Kielce and Exhibition Ambassador 2011; Mr. Ryszard Grobelny – the Mayor of Poznań and Exhibition Ambassador 2012, as well as the representatives of Polish Chamber of Exhibition Industry. The Chapter was chaired by Mr. Andrzej Byrt – the President of the Board of PCEI and President of the Board of Poznań International Fair. This year PCEI considered two candidates: Mr. Mieczysław Struk, the Marshal of the Pomerania Voivodship and Mr. Paweł Adamowicz, the Mayor of Gdańsk. This unusual situation was caused by the spectacular development of exhibition activities in Gdańsk and in Pomerania and the significant role played by the two laureates. The Gdańsk Commune and the Pomerania Voivodship Self-Government, being the major shareholders of Gdańsk International Fair, made the strategic decision to develop the modern venue of AmberExpo. – The development of Gdańsk International Fair, so dynamic in the recent years, would not have been possible without the support of our owners, i.e. the city of Gdańsk and the Pomerania Voivodship Self-Government. Therefore we have agreed that the worthy Exhibition Ambassadors are the representatives of these institutions, the Marshal of the Pomerania Voivodship Mr. Mieczysław Struk and the Mayor of Gdańsk Mr. Paweł Adamowicz – summarizes Maciej Glamowski, the Vice-President of the Board of Gdańsk International Fair, member of PCEI, who proposed this year’s nominations.
