The fair was attended by over 700 exhibitors from 25 countries, 759 authors from Poland and abroad, and approximately 68 thousand visitors. The literary feast was filled with attractions and meetings with the best writers. According to Gazeta Krakowska Daily: This year’s edition of the International Book Fair in Krakow® finished with a total success. Once again the crowd of visitors proved that the book is Krakow is doing very well. This fact was confirmed in the opinions of the Exhibitors – after the third day of the Fair, many of them sold 20% more books than in the previous years during the whole event! I am really happy seeing people who look for a place to sit right after leaving the cash register, then they sit down and start reading the books they’ve just bought – says Grażyna Grabowska, President of the Board of Targi w Krakowie. This year, the traditional formula announcing the start of the literary feast was spoken in Hebrew as the Guest of Honour of this year’s Book Fair was Israel. – Perhaps its natural that the book nation is a guest in the UNESCO’s City of Literature. We prepared a very interesting program including literature and also meeting with authors. It must be remembered that Polish and Jewish culture have influenced each other for centuries. They both assimilated the influence of nations they had encountered over the years. Israel and Poland are both in the phase of intensive growth. They both want to build a modern state based on innovative technologies, with strong economy and great cultural achievements – said Anna Azari, Ambassador of Israel in Poland. During the opening ceremony of the Fair, the titles of the ambassadors of the International Book Fair in Krakow® were conferred, an award presented since 2011 to people who support the concept of Fairs and promote book reading. The Mayor of Krakow, Jacek Majchrowski, received the title of the Honorary Exhibition Ambassador from Przemysła Trawa, the President of the Polish Chamber of the Exhibition Industry.
